Users of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS will be offered an automatic upgrade to 26.04.1 LTS
via Update Manager a couple of weeks following this release after some planned
backports to address regressions in a recent version of rust-coreutils.
In the meantime, those eager to make the jump can do so at any time by
running:
$ do-release-upgrade -d

Arch Linux Now Believes Malware Incident Under Control: More Than 1,500 Affected Packages - Phoronix
Even at 1,579 packages listed, that final updated noted, it's a "list containing many (but not all) of the affected packages". Ouch.

With today's KDE Plasma 6.7 beta release there has been a surprising amount of interest in the new revival of Plasma Big Screen as the TV-sized UI for Plasma.
I've been trying it out today and it has worked out rather well, a very smooth experience, and in good shape for making its debut in next month's Plasma 6.7 release.
Plasma Big Screen is the large UI format for the Plasma desktop with a convenient experience for those using it as a living room PC. And it's just in time for the upcoming Steam Machine from Valve.
ça a l'air cool
The Linux 7.0 milestone comes due to Linus Torvalds' preference of bumping the major version number after hitting X.19 as opposed to any single major change
in absolute terms with the continued growth of the Steam user base, 2~3% was rather healthy considering all of its bumps over the past decade.
But Valve just published the Steam Survey results for March 2026
and they have never been so incredible for Linux... 5.33%!
Steam on Linux was never above 5% and easily an all-time high for the Linux gaming marketshare, especially in absolute numbers. It was a massive 3.1% spike in March
while macOS also jumped surprisinfly by 1.19% to 2.35%.
The Steam Survey numbers show Windows losing 4.28%, down to 92.33%.
Part of the jump at least appears to be explained by Valve correcting again the Steam China numbers.
(dans certains cas)
mais quand même
